It’s been a roller coaster ride when it has come to the rumored, then denied, then rumored merger coming to Disney and Fox. Well it looks like things are back on and not only full speed ahead but a done deal.
We reported the news of Disney being in talks to buy up Fox back in November, but those talks seemed to die out just as quickly as we heard about them. The two companies were unable to come up with an agreement and rumors of the merger went quiet for a few weeks. But it looks like things picked back up again in recent weeks and it was recently reported from CNBC that Disney and Fox have come to an agreement and we can expect an official announcement on Thursday, December 14th.
There’s still no word on exactly what assets Disney would be getting from Fox but some of the ones up for grabs would be 20th Century Fox film studio, National Geographic, Star India, and all the FX networks.
But let’s talk about what really matters: after this merger, Anastasia will officially become a Disney princess (so everyone who is wrong when they refer to her as their favorite Disney princess will no longer be hardcore judged by Disney fans).
It has also been reported that Disney CEO, Bob Iger, would stay on past his 2019 retirement if/when this deal becomes official.
How do you feel about Disney buying up yet another mega company? Do you think this is a good idea? Is it a disaster for the film industry? Let us know what you think!
