5 Characters We Want To See Get A Rogue One Blu-ray Steelbook

The possibilities are endless.

**Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Spoilers Below**

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s Blu-ray & DVD home release is mere days away (**high pitch scream!**). Different retailers sell different versions. I’ve scoured the web to determine which edition I want on day one (more on that later).

The line “I Rebel” didn’t even make it into the film. What a crock.

The 7 Star Wars films have undergone many, many different re-releases. My favorite iteration of the casings are absolutely the steelbook blu-ray series. Wanting to begin capitalizing on their Lucasfilm investment pre-The Force Awakens, Disney released limited edition steelbooks for both the prequel and original trilogies, with each case featuring an up-close shot of a character from the film. It should be noted that these are being phased out and are becoming harder to find as time goes on. Take a look:

Episode I: The Phantom Menace feat. Darth Maul
Episode II: Attack of the Clones feat. Yoda
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith feat. General Grievous
Episode IV: A New Hope feat. Darth Vader
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back feat. a Storm Trooper
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi feat. Emperor Palpatine

Best Buy got in on the action for The Force Awakens’ initial release in April 2016:

Episode VII: The Force Awakens feat. Kylo Ren & Captain Phasma

With all 7 episodic-films to date released, my collection looks awesome! However, Rogue One will not feature a character up close on its steelbook release, which I found disappointing. Best Buy is exclusively offering the release, which features Storm Troopers and Death Troopers on the case. This is the most ensemble-based of any of the films, so I get it.

Rogue One is available to download on digital HD today

This got me thinking – who would I want to see on the cover of my very own Rogue One Steelbook? Here are five characters that I deemed appropriate to match my real-life collection:

5.Chirrut Imwe

The most Jedi-like character in film, Chirrut quickly became a fan favorite. The Donnie Yen-led character was a total badass and mixed in bits of humor to lighten to the mood. As with the other 4 characters I’ll list below, this will likely be Chirrut’s only Star Wars film (unless we go back in time).

4.Cassian Andor

Diego Luna’s performance as Cassian Andor was at times complex. His face was one of the first we witnessed in the early promo pictures of the movie. I’m betting we are going to see or hear quite a bit of this “Fulcrum” in Star Wars: Rebels Season 4 next Fall.

3.Director Orson Krennic

The film’s antagonist, Krennic would make for a fantastic cover character for Rogue One. If you want to experience more of Krennic, I recommend James Luceno’s prequel novel to Rogue One, Catalyst.

2.Jyn Erso

The film’s true star, Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso is one of the strongest Star Wars characters in recent times and keeps the string of amazing female leads going. I would hands down have chosen Jyn first overall, if not for….

1.K-2SO

Easily the most popular character in the film, Alan Tudyk’s lovable K2 was the comedic relief, hitting every line just right. In fact, K2 is my favorite Star Wars droid not named BB-8.

Major kudos to Jamie LeRoy & Trevor White for creating these theoretical cases! Which one do you like best? Is there a character not listed that you want to see? Leave a comment below and may the Force be with you!

Josiah LeRoy is The Geekiverse’s Founder and major Star Wars fanboy. He is counting down the days until Rogue One is here, along with The Last Jedi trailer!
