The Flash: Another New Speedster. What Does it Mean?

The Flash, now half way through Season 3, is not shy about introducing speedsters, as we’ve met about a half dozen of them so far.  But were fans just introduced to a new one on an Earth we had yet to see before?

**Spoilers for The Flash-Episode 14 “Attack on Central City” & Possible Spoilers for the rest of the season follow**

In Episode 14 entitled “Attack on Central City,” Barry and the Star Labs crew are tasked with defending their home from the genius telepathic gorilla, Grodd, and his band of deadly primates.  Grodd’s troop had made their way to Earth 1 with the help of a telepathically controlled inter-universe bounty hunter/object of Cisco’s affection, Gypsy.  When Cisco goes to request her help, he finds her on Earth 19.  But for a brief second before their conversation, she is not alone.  Who is this speedster who looks poised for a jaunt through the sandiest of deserts, or at least pilot a plane in the 1940’s?

Earth 19’s variation of The Flash is none other than Accelerated Man.  Besides boasting one of the most direct to the point monikers in the multiverse, he has all the characteristics of most speedsters, including, well, super speed, increased stamina, phasing abilities, and vortex creation.  He is also one of the “core four” Superheroes of his earth, along with Bat Man, Shrinking Man, & Wonder Woman, an earth ruled by King George that is just beginning to use “electric technology.”

What does this mean for the Flash?  Well, it’s confirmation of just how vast the multiverse is, and just how wide the array of speedsters, superheroes in a broader scope, there are at the fingertips of the Arrowverse writers.  From the ending of episode 14, we’re aware that Savitar is back, and about to wreak havoc on our favorite Central City heroes.  Could the brief introduction of Accelerated Man be a nod to how Barry, & the Star Labs group will finally defeat the “God of Motion?”  My theory is that the final plan will involve more speedsters than just Allen, Kid Flash and Jesse Quick.

The Flash: A Celebration of 75 Years

One thing is for certain, that viewers are in for a treat as the sprint (no pun intended) towards the season finale continues with only 9 episodes left.
