Which TV Premieres are The Grumpy Geek Watching This Week?

Well, it’s finally the beginning of fall TV show premieres, and quite frankly not all that much gets me as excites as fall TV premieres. Here’s what I will be watching this week for certain.

Monday Night
8 pm – Gotham – FOX
As long as Hugo is alive, no one dies. I’m normally irritated by the idea that dead characters can come back to life, unless it is Laurel Lance, in Arrow. I want a mulligan on that. Looking forward to Gotham. Looks like Barbara is still crazy and Fish and Penguin have taken it to new levels of cool, and because Hugo is alive I am expecting to see Cameron Monaghan, and he was, by far the best thing about last season.

Gotham Season 2 on Blu-Ray is one of Amazon’s Best Sellers

Tuesday
8 pm – NCIS – CBS
First episode of a DiNozzo-less NCIS. New people joining the team, including Jennifer Esposito (of Master of Disguise, sorry Jennifer, you’ve done way better, but it is one of my favorites)  and Wilmer Valderrama (of Royal Pains. No it wasn’t his best thing, but HankMed is way better’n Seattle Grace Hospital, or whatever it is called now.) The show had moved off my must watch list, as it was (is) on at the same time as The Flash. I’ll watch this week though to see if I need to watch at all this season. It had gotten a little stale for me.

9pm – Bull – CBS
NCIS without DiNozzo followed by Michael Weatherly playing a way cooler Dr. Phil? Hmmm. Trailers didn’t do it for me, but I gotta tell you, I am curious to see if Weatherly can ever be anyone BUT Very Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo. Stay  tuned. I’ll let you know, I’m not shy.

10pm – Agents of SHIELD
Hmmm. New, later time slot. A show or network exec saying it could be darker and edgier. Skye/Daisy/Quake on the run. Coulson demoted and a new Director. Has promise. This is one I’ve always liked, even when it sucked, so I have high hopes.

If you don’t want this Agent Coulson not really action figure, I can’t help you.

Wednesday
8pm – Lethal Weapon – FOX
Like driving by a horrific accident and still having to look. I think this was the worst idea of the new season. Lethal Weapon worked because of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Period. But  still need to sneak a peak as I drive by.

10 pm – Falling Water – USA
I’m not much of a supernatural show guy, but the idea that three strangers are all dreaming parts of the same dream and then realize it, is kind of intriguing. I’ll give it a look.

Thursday
9 pm – Notorious – ABC
I am mortified by this show. It is everything I hate about the news business. Manipulation of stories, collaboration with the news makers. Ewww. But it has Piper Perabo and Daniel Sunjata, both from shows I liked on USA Network, so I’ll see what they can do, even if I do risk throwing stuff at the TV.

Friday
8 pm – MacGyver – CBS
C’mon, it’s MacGyver. Please let this show be good. Please let this show be good. Please let this show be good.

There’s a MacGyver How-to Handbook, seriously.

Saturday
8:30 pm – Star Wars Rebels – Disney
Just kidding. No way I am watching this, but I am 100% certain Josiah LeRoy will, so stay tuned for reviews. I hear there’s Star Warsy stuff going on there.

Tune in next week for the next set of premieres.
