D23, Disney’s biannual celebration of all things Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel…so everything that matters in this world… gave the Avengers fandom something to talk about, revealing footage from Avengers: Infinity War, as well as introducing the world to the Children of Thanos, aka, the Black Order…
**SPOILERS Spider-Man: Homecoming present**
This year, D23 dropped major news on the live action Lion King and Aladdin movies, as well as showing off a detailed model of the future Star Wars Land. Not to be outdone, their Marvel Studios branch had some reveals of its own that have sent the internet into a frenzy (and by internet, I mean my brain. My brain is in a frenzy.)
Marvel Studios premiered footage from the Russo Brothers’ hotly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War, and the reel apparently received a standing ovation. The new footage shows a Guardians of the Galaxy crew meeting Thor for the first time, as the Norse God hits their windshield battered and unconscious. This is our first indication that Thor might be the first of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to meet up with the Mad Titan.

The footage also revealed Spider-Man “using” his Spider senses on a bus, as it shows the hairs on his arms standing up to warn him of imminent danger. Also shown was the web-slinger in his metallic, gold trimmed Spider Suit that Tony Stark had designed for him at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. The footage also showed a number of Avengers, new and old, squaring up to battle Thanos, including Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and the Winter Soldier, along with a Wikandan Army. Not to be outshown by his friends who aren’t wanted by the Government, Captain America himself, Steve Rogers, is shown in a battle torn Cap suit, with a beard and longer hair. The Thanos voice over that accompanies much of the footage, and the scene in which he has Peter Parker apologizing to Tony Stark, while Thor is in Thanos’ grip, proves that the Mad Titan is unlike any foe these heroes have ever come across.

And speaking of Thanos, D23 brought out Thanos himself, Josh Brolin, to “introduce” his Children, aka the Black Order. On hand were statues of Thanos and his four henchmen, Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, Black Dwarf, & his right hand man, Corvus Glaive. Rumors had been swirling for weeks that the Children of Thanos would be joining the Mad Titan onscreen in Infinity War, and the fandom got a definitive “yes” to that question today.

Oh. And the Infinity Gauntlet. Damn, that thing is cool.
