Details and visuals have emerged for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s much anticipated DLC packs.
The first, now known as The Master Trials, will release on June 30th. The highlight–and namesake–of this pack is a new mode called the Trial of the Sword, where Link will have to fight his way through a series of different chambers, all of which feature their own unique environment and enemy set. The catch is that you start the trial without any of your preexisting equipment, meaning you have to find new weapons along the way and build your arsenal back up.
Also included in The Master Trials is a map feature that tracks your progress across the vast overworld from your previous 200 hours played, new equipment based on characters from past Legend of Zelda games, and a new difficulty setting called Master Mode, where the enemies are stronger, more numerous, and far more dangerous.
We briefly got a look at the second DLC pack, titled the Champions’ Ballad. This pack will include the “new story” that fans have been dying to know more of, and while we didn’t receive details, this time, the trailer took the time to show the four Champions (Mipha, Revali, Daruk, Urbosa) as well as Princess Zelda, suggesting that they’ll all play a major role in this new tale. The four Champions are even getting their own Amiibo, which will be compatible with the DLC and release sometime later this year.
The Champions’ Ballad has been given a Holiday 2017 release window. The DLC is available for $19.99 for both the Switch and Wii U versions of Breath of the Wild. Take a better look at everything we’ve mentioned in the trailer below.
